On hearing his performance, Lazar Berman praised him as "a serious artist and master, whose emergence in today's atmosphere of pseudo-artistic and shallow music-making is specially valuable and welcome".

His performances have been broadcast on most major classical radio stations around the world. Hayroudinoff has recorded for NAMI Records (Japan), Decca and Chandos. His recordings of Shostakovich's Theatre Music and the Dvorak Piano Concerto with the BBC Philharmonic were greeted with universal acclaim, garnering praise such as "dazzling and... electrically compelling" (Gramophone) and "utterly magical" (Classic FM) and were selected amongst the Best CDs of the Year by BBC Music and the Gramophone magazines respectively. His CD of the Rachmaninoff Complete Preludes was selected by Classic FM Magazine as a part of the 'four discs essential Rachmaninoff collection', alongside the recordings by Arthur Rubinstein and Andre Previn, and the recording of the Complete Etudes-Tableaux by Rachmaninoff released in November 2006 became the Instrumental Choice of the Month with the BBC Music Magazine.

Rustem Hayroudinoff has performed to great critical acclaim in Japan, his native Russia and Europe. In the UK he has appeared in major concert venues including St John's Smith Square, the Barbican, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Wigmore Hall. His recital in Chicago was televised and simultaneously broadcast live by over 300 radio stations across the United States. In 2010 he made a recital debut in New York and concerto appearances in Europe. In October 2010 he made a highly successful debut with the Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Marin Alsop. 2010-2011 season includes solo recitals in the UK, Canada, USA and France and the UK tour with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra performing the Rachmaninoff 3rd Concerto.

Amongst other orchestras Hayroudinoff has performed with are the Sofia Symphony, the Osaka Century Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony, the BBC Philharmonic, the Bournemouth Symphony and the London Philharmonic. After his debut with the latter in Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto The Independent wrote: "The piano soloist was a sensationally gifted pianist from Russia Rustem Hayroudinoff. What a performance this was, demonstrating the emotional range of this wonderful work, full of mercurial brilliance, impassioned melody and breathtaking virtuosity." He has also recently appeared in the documentary "The Unknown Shostakovich" alongside Vladimir Ashkenazy, Valery Gergiev and Maxim Shostakovich.

His recording of the Rachmaninoff Etudes-Tableaux was nominated for the BBC Music Magazine Best Instrumental CD of the Year 2008 Award alongside Mitsuko Uchida and Steven Isserlis. It was also selected as the finest version of these pieces on BBC Radio 3's Building a Library.
