SINGER-PIANISTS
CARMINE MEMBRINO
Carmine began playing piano at the age of eight and joined his first band aged sixteen, later becoming a prize-winning songwriter. After studying for a jazz degree at Leeds College of Music, Carmine began working onboard cruise ships & ferries, enjoying the challenge of entertaining audiences with just his voice and piano. Returning to dry land, he became inspired to write and perform his original material with his band, ‘Johnson’; simultaneously performing as part of ‘Jawonderquai’, a tribute band dedicated to the songs of Jamiroquai and Stevie Wonder, and ‘Just A Girl’, a full-on rock band, who could regularly be seen at clubs like Jumpin’ Jaks and Chicago Rocks. Carmine continues to perform solo, claiming it helps him ‘keep things spontaneous’ as it allows him to better engage with and react to his audience. It also means he can pitch his performances to suit the situation, be it quietly in the background or at the centre of attention, leading a crowd-pleasing upbeat sing-along!
