Dino's main influences are performers of a later
style rather than purist, consisting of Ray Charles, Jerry Lee-Lewis and
Little Richard, but also being inspired by modern day players such as Vince
Weber and Katie Webster. He is also an accomplished Hammond organ player for which Bruce Katz, of Ronnie-Earl fame, has been the major inspiration to persuade Dino into playing the legendary B3. With a quite contemporary style
of harmonica playing added to his list of musical talents, Dino seals
his performance with a sweet soulful voice that seems to complement his
act with great feel and dynamics.
His career has involved many important developments,
the main one being his move to Melbourne, Australia where he completed
his own musical apprenticeship over five years, touring, recording and
performing with some of Australia's finest contemporary musicians before
heading back to London and forming his own Blues/Boogie band playing 'the
circuit', amounting to a very busy work- schedule BY DEMAND!!.
His musical credits include performances alongside both blues and contemporary
musicians alike such as Dana Gillespie, Otis Grand, Big Jay McNeely and
Big Bill Morganfield (son of Muddy Waters). As well as performing with
his fellow musicians in support opening acts for artists including Jimmie
Vaughn, Bob Dylan and Billy Joel. The final word here is that Dino Baptiste
is a piano player/vocalist who has to be seen and heard driving his enthusiasm
with real energy and soul night after night in a fashion known to him
none other than the BLUES and nothin' else but!
