Rebecca Storm was born in Shipley in West Yorkshire,
England. She studied music at Leeds University. Her early career began
as a nightclub and cabaret singer but her versatility and evident acting
ability brought her to the forefront as a solo artist and musical star.
Rebecca has since taken leading roles in top musicals in the West End,
on UK tour and in Ireland where she has now become something of a cult
figure. In 1984 she was offered the leading role of Mrs. Johnstone in
Willy Russell's musical 'Blood Brothers', and received great critical
acclaim. She went on to appear in many other West End musicals including
Eva Peron in 'Evita', Fantine in 'Les Miserables', Florence in 'Chess',
Rose in 'Aspects of Love' and Joan of Arc in 'Jeanne' at Sadlers Wells.
Rebecca was guest star in the Freddie Starr Show in Bournemouth which
was a tremendous success, playing to an audience of 3,000 per show!
In 1991/92 Rebecca devised and starred in 'Hollywood
Ladies', a musical tribute to her many influences from the silver screen.
She starred in 'The Magic of The Musicals', 'Side By Side By Sondheim'
and 'The Songs of Edith Piaf'. Rebecca has performed several times for
royalty, including The Prince and Princess of Wales, The Duke and Duchess
of York and was delighted and honoured to sing at The King of Norway's'
coronation, the only foreign artiste to do so.
Her television roles have included appearances
on all major UK variety shows, the starring role as Tanya in the BBC TV
rock opera of the same name, Wogan, Top of the Pops, Late Late Show and
her own One Hour Specials, An Evening With Rebecca Storm and Sunday Night
At The Cork Opera House.
Her gold discs have included the Ovation Album--Best
of Andrew Lloyd Webber, 'Broadway By Storm', 'Ovation', 'Ireland By Storm'
and 'We Never Said Goodbye'. Single releases include 'Putting On The Show'
(the theme from the TV series Connie - No.21 in the charts), 'Widows
Tears' and 'Mr. Love ' the theme from the David Putnam film of the same
name.
She has enjoyed great success with several solo
concert tours including sell out performances at The Point Theatre Dublin,
the National Concert Hall Glasgow, Birmingham N.E.C and the Olympia Theatre
Dublin.
In the summer of '99 Rebecca appeared in the famous
Clontarf Castle playing to packed houses for six months and was very proud
to be asked to join the Derry and Dublin choirs in a live R.T.E link up
at Merrion Square to celebrate the new Millennium, broadcasting to over
two billion people. During the past two and a half years, Rebecca has
travelled the world, performing in Australia, America and all across Europe
promoting her album, 'I Want To Know What Love Is' recorded with the Irish
Film Orchestra.
Rebecca has just completed a very successful run
of 'Blood Brothers' in Ireland. Her latest album, 'Celtic 'n' Broadway
has just been released.
