Born in Brisbane, Australia, Trudy began her professional
career performing in clubs and festivals throughout the East Coast of
Australia and the Pacific Region. Realising that her music and ambitions
were not in the Pacific Rim, Trudy headed to London where she is establishing
herself as one of the leading jazz singers in Europe.
After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music,
she developed a style that is based on contemporary jazz with influences
from Blues, Rock and Soul. Trudy has performed at some of the leading
jazz venues in London, including Ronnie Scott's, Pizza on the Park, the
606 Club, The Vortex Jazz Bar and the Soho and Greenwich Jazz Festivals.
Trudy has recently released her debut CD 'Sweet Surprise'
on the FMR label (catalogue number UG CD04-0797) featuring Phil Peskett
- piano, Andy Hamill - Bass, Mark Fletcher - Drums, Dave O'Higgins - Sax
and Mark Johns - Guitar.
" Sweet Surprise is an album of vigorous
jazz standards deftly handled by the band. Stylistically it's a pastiche
reflecting Trudy's background and the pervasive influence of her heroes."
- Mick Daley, TNT Magazine.
