Tom Sitton is rapidly becoming one of the most in-demand young lions of the guitar world.
Starting classical guitar aged 7 he has lead the National Youth Guitar Ensemble, been invited to play with the European Youth Guitar Ensemble, studied with world famous Duo Melis at Strasbourg Conservatoire and Robin Hill at University of Leeds.
As the reputation of his passionate, virtuosic and tremendously intimate style of performance spread he was headhunted for as the first classical guitarist on the award-winning 6-star cruise line Seabourn and was quickly made the youngest Assistant Cruise Director on the fleet.
Tom also plays electric guitar in variety of jazz, funk and soul outfits as a professional session guitarist, with a touring experience ranging from quartets to 20 piece dance bands. One attribute that sets his playing apart is his immense capacity for improvisation, often his classical recitals will include freely improvised pieces, sometimes on themes suggested by the audience, sometimes the music seemingly arising out of nowhere.
Aside from performing Tom has also composed and recorded scores for dance and theatre companies and written scripts for the stage, some of which are now in university syllabi. His interests in cross-arts projects and holistic working have involved running projects at schools and universities and he loves travelling the world to meet new artists and discover new horizons. Having hung up his sword as an ex-Great Britain fencer, free-climbing is Tom's other great passion and travelling provides fantastic opportunities to find new and more daring rocks to hang off all over the world. Tom currently lives on the Kent coast, in South East England.
